Employee Spotlight – Wendy Reid
Wendy Reid, CE Sales Coordinator, Regina – 5 years
Employee Spotlight, Wendy Reid, has been working at Redhead Equipment for 5 years as the CE Sales Coordinator in our Regina branch where she deals with all the rental and trucking of all of the equipment sales and rentals for the Estevan, Swift Current and Regina area. She says “I’m responsible for making sure the equipment is ready to go out to the customer, cleaned, serviced, no issues, and then I find the best deal I can on trucking to get it out to the customer at a reasonable rate and on time.” She is one of our many employees behind the scenes making things run smoothly for our customers. We asked what might surprise people about her role and she said how much it costs to move a unit, “people are always surprised by the transportation and hauling costs and what all goes into them.”
Working as the sales coordinator does come with its challenges, “when a salesman comes in late afternoon and needs something out tomorrow or ASAP, I have to rush and find trucking, make sure the unit is clean and serviced and ready to go out.” Wendy mentioned the rush of getting things pulled together in a time crunch can be challenging however “knowing we got the unit to the customer on time and they are happy” she said is really rewarding.
Wendy enjoys working at Redhead Equipment and says the branch is nice, people are friendly and so is the environment, “You can sit and talk and enjoy your day with the people you work with, it’s a nice place to work.”
We asked Wendy what she thinks has contributed to the longevity of Redhead Equipment and she mentioned the products and services, “Volvo and Case have great products out there and our service department is great making sure we take care of customers and ensuring everything is operating and in good condition, serviced and clean.” She reflected on a time when at the end of the day on a Friday the sales team needed a unit from Regina to Lloyd as soon as possible, Wendy called at least 10 different companies and found 1 that could get the unit to Lloydminster for 8am the next day. She said “some days it’s stressful, but we do whatever it takes to get the job done.”
We asked Wendy what she thinks others may say about her if we asked and she said “that she can find freight like nobody else for cheap and make sure everything gets to the customers on time.” If she were to give advice to anyone starting a career at Redhead Equipment she would say “be prepared to work, most days it’s pretty high paced, sometimes its slow and relaxed but always be prepared to go go go!”
