Employee Spotlight – Mike Marr
Mike Marr, Sales Manager – Estevan, 13 years
Mike has been working with Redhead Equipment in Estevan since the company bought out Boundary Motors in 2007, prior to which he was with Boundary Motors since 1983. He started working in parts, before moving into sales, and when Redhead took over he moved into the role of Parts Manager for the first few years. Just six years ago he took on the role of Sales Manager.
Day to day Mike handles a team of sales personnel and organizes his day with meetings and paperwork, phone calls and customer visits. He says sometimes working with the sales team is like “herding cats” and can be a bit of a challenge, however he finds it rewarding in the long run being able to work with people and customers. “The positives outweigh the negatives.”
“I’ve always enjoyed my job and what I do and I really enjoy the people, after so long you start to see them as family, both the customers and the employees.” Mike stated when asked why he has continued his career with Redhead Equipment.
Redhead Equipment celebrated 70 years in business recently, why do you think the company has been around for so long?
We have a solid reputation for quality and customer service and our staff always follow through with what they say they are going to do.
What advice would you give to someone starting their career with Redhead Equipment?
It’s a good company to work for and there are all kinds of opportunities. Get out and challenge yourself; you have opportunity to move around branches across the province, don’t be afraid to make the next move.
Can you tell us something interesting about yourself?
I farm, it’s not really a hobby it’s more a punishment but I enjoy it.
