Employee Spotlight- Melissa Sparrowhawk

Melissa Sparrowhawk, Financial Services Manager – Regina, 28 years

Melissa started working at Redhead Equipment 28 years ago at reception. From there she held positions as accounts payable clerk, sales coordinator, business manager and now works as the Financial Services Manager.

In her current role, Melissa works with her team of Credit and Business Mangers to ensure Redhead Equipment’s customers’ obtain the credit they need in order to make the purchase they require to keep their equipment up and running.

Our business office offers equipment financing to assist customers in obtaining the equipment they need to get the job done.

Melissa works closely with the administrator of branch services, who provides training to new and existing Redhead personnel throughout the province.  This training is our way of ensuring we are building the best team for our customers.

Melissa says one of the biggest rewards of her role is seeing people grow into new positions. “I like to see people take on new challenges and be successful.”

Redhead is celebrating 70 years in business and we asked Melissa why she thinks the company has been around so long: “It’s a diversified company” she said, “We will do things other companies aren’t willing to do.   We think outside the box on many of our finance deals and aim to find unique solutions that work for each and every customer.  We want to see our customers succeed and grow their business; we do whatever it takes to help our customers succeed”.  She believes the people are the key to the company’s success;   “We have a lot of long standing knowledgeable employees, having these employees around to mentor others is one of many reasons we are so successful.”

Melissa said being able to work in different positions over the years has provided her the opportunity to work with many different people at Redhead and she is constantly learning given the variety of roles she has experience in.

“It’s kept things interesting as I’ve had the chance to work with a lot of different people in the organization, and the company values a good work life balance so I’m able to do my job and meet family obligations as well.”

What is some advice for new hires at Redhead Equipment?

Work hard, get to know people, get involved in social club, and do your best.

What’s something people may not know about you?

I was taking Violin a couple years ago because I always wanted to learn.   I also enjoy horseback riding.

 Do you have a favorite place to travel?

Definitely Phoenix, for the heat and hiking.

What would you do in an hour of spare time?

I like to spend time outdoors walking and biking.
