Employee Spotlight – Carla Congdon

Carla Congdon, Warranty Admin – 5 years, Swift Current

This week’s Employee Spotlight, Carla Congdon, has been with our Swift Current branch for 5 years now as a Warranty Administrator. She describes the bulk of her day as coordinating completed work orders and breaking them down for submission to various manufacturers. When we asked Carla what she finds challenging about her role she mentioned “staying on top of the warranty guidelines, knowing what you can and cannot claim, and always trying to maximize your return on investment” can be challenging as guidelines are often changing.

We asked her to tell us about the Swift Current branch and she said the employees are great and there are a lot of long-term employees at the branch, more than 60 staff and although it may look small, it’s bigger than you think. She says it’s really rewarding “when we all work together as a team to reach our goals” and that every department puts the customers first.

Carla mentioned the friendly people and laid back and fun environment are something she enjoys about working here. She mentioned that the most interesting thing about her job has been that she doesn’t have a background in Agriculture or Trucking by any means, “when I started everything was brand new to me and it was a steep learning curve and I find it all very interesting. Now I take all that information and break it down into details, I’m always learning here.” If we asked her colleagues about her, she thinks they would say she’s organized.

If she had any advice for someone starting a career at Redhead Equipment it would be to “take advantage of the RRSP program and contribute more than the minimum.”

I’ve been married for 25 years

What is an achievement or accomplishment that you are proud of?

Training for and running my first marathon in 2016. I’ve run lots of half’s, 10ks and 15ks, a full was definitely a big goal.

What do you find yourself doing with an hour of free time?

Drinking a really good cup of coffee and reading a good book

Do you have a favorite place to travel to or visit?

I grew up attending Camp Kinasao and camping at Christopher Lake which is one of my favorite places to spend time.
